Mark Your Calendar for the Pink Out for Cancer Clash September 29th

The long-standing rivalry among athletes of Marlette and Brown City schools will surely continue into the 2017-18 academic year as their varsity football teams face off on Friday, September 29th in Brown City. The Pink Out for Cancer Clash is the name of the game and its purpose is to raise awareness about cancer.

A group of exceptional community volunteers, representing both communities, have worked hard over the past few months to coordinate and gain community support of this event. Proceeds from the event will support Marlette Regional Hospital’s B.C.U.P.S. (Breast Cancer Understanding, Prevention and Screenings) program. This program has provided free mammogram screenings to hundreds of Thumb Area women, primarily for those that are uninsured, but has recently expanded to provide full or partial financial assistance to those who qualify and need additional testing services like diagnostic mammograms, ultrasounds, and biopsies.

Many area businesses are supporting this event by way of sponsorship, and there are opportunities still available. Area residents can support this event by purchasing a Pink Out for Cancer tee shirt for $15 that also serves as their ticket into the game. Tee shirts are available for purchase at Marlette Regional Hospital, Kohler Oil & Propane, Tri-County Bank (Marlette and Brown City), Marlette Community Schools, and Brown City Community Schools.

The game is scheduled to kick-off at 7 p.m. on Friday the 29th at the Brown City football field. A tailgate will commence just prior to the game starting around 4 p.m. catered by Brower Farms.

For more information about this event or sponsorship opportunities, please contact Kasey at Kohler Oil & Propane at 810-346-2820, Kendra at Tri-County Bank at 989-635-3320, or contact Sara at Marlette Regional Hospital at 989-635-4012.
