McLaren Bay Region safeTALK suicide alertness training
McLaren Bay Region will host a free safeTALK suicide alertness
training session on Tuesday, January 29 from 8 a.m. - 11 a.m.
safeTALK is a half-day alertness training that prepares attendees,
regardless of prior experience or training, to become a suicide-alert helper.
All community members aged 15 and older are welcome to attend this training,
where attendees will learn four basic steps to create a life-saving connection
with a person who is suicidal.
The class will be facilitated by Bethany Wirgowski, RN and Nurse
Educator Emily Williams, RN of McLaren Bay Region.
Upon completion of the class, attendees will be able to identify a
person with thoughts of suicide, learn how to ask if a person is thinking about
suicide and be able to connect them with suicide first aid resources.
