Administrator named for Ascension St. Joseph

Ascension Michigan welcomes Shane Hunt, RN, BBA, MBA, to serve as Administrator for Ascension St. Joseph in Tawas. Hunt is a highly respected leader with 20 years of experience in health care and hospital administration. He will start in his new role on July 1.

Hunt has been serving as director of patient care for Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital. He has worked at Ascension St. Mary’s and the Towne Centre Ambulatory Care and Emergency Care Center. His career began at Ascension St. Mary’s as a nurse manager for the emergency department and, through the years, also served as emergency department director, hospital operations manager and director of emergency and trauma services. Shane was also the chief flight nurse for FlightCare, the air ambulance service affiliated with Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital.

Janet Jacob, RN, MBA, who has been serving as interim administrator at Ascension St. Joseph since April 2018, will join the Ascension Performance Improvement team as a Lean Leader for the northern health ministries and the state of Michigan. Jacob has extensive background as a nursing executive with quality and process improvement expertise, including Six Sigma training, and will be an asset to the Ascension Performance Improvement team. During the past year, she led Ascension St. Joseph through the transition to being fully integrated and rebranded as Ascension. Jacob also helped re-establish and build relationships throughout the community. Thanks to her efforts, Hunt will be able to continue to foster relationships and grow Ascension St. Joseph.
