Ascension St. Joseph Hospital Vaccinates First Associates
Tawas, MI - The first associates at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital received the Moderna COVID-19 vaccination on Wednesday, December 23. The hospital received 400 doses of the vaccine on Wednesday and within hours vaccinated its first associates.
The first associates to receive the vaccine were:
- Dr. Bob May, Emergency Department
- Desiree Jacob, RDMS/RVT
- Sylivia Lueck, RN
- Cheryl Casteller, RN
- Dr. Christopher Oravitz, ObGyn
- Rick Meshew, PA
- Deana Sivrais, EVS
- Jennifer Dady, RRT
- Theresa Lange, RN
- Dr. Michael Wagner
Dr. Bob May and Sylvia Lueck work in the emergency room at Ascension St. Joseph and have seen and treated many cases of COVID -19. They jointly shared that they are “happy to do our part to help stop the pandemic.”
Deana Sivrais from the hospital’s environmental services department stated, “Although I was nervous, I did this to protect my family.”
“People should not be afraid,” said Dr. Michael Wagner. “I encourage all of the community to get the vaccine when it's available.”
“This is a very exciting moment for us. What a blessing to arrive at Christmas,” said Shane Hunt, Administrator at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital. “This is definitely a first step. As we await widespread distribution of the COVID-19 vaccines, it is still critical for our entire community to continue wearing masks, maintaining distance from others and washing hands frequently to protect ourselves and those around us.”
