Ascension St. Joseph Recognizes Nurse with DAISY Award on National Nurses Day

TAWAS CITY, MI – National Nurses Week is celebrated May 6-12 as an annual time to recognize the amazing and self-less work of all nurses. Ascension St. Joseph Hospital recently honored one of their nurses with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses®. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation's mission to recognize the extraordinary, compassionate nursing care they provide patients and families every day.

Dawn Krumm, RNC, is an obstetrics and labor nurse who works with pregnant mothers and babies at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital. She was nominated by co-workers Deidra Barclay, RN, and Jeanette Moran, RN, recognizing the many attributes that make Dawn an extraordinary nurse including her empathetic nature. Dawn was presented with the award in front of co-workers and her family on May 6, which is National Nurses Day. Her nominators stated, "Dawn is uniquely kind and generous, extremely knowledgeable and dedicated, and hardworking and humble. She is dedicated to the nursing unit and the Ascension mission to provide kind and safe care to our patients." And, "Dawn is able to quickly build a trusting rapport with our patients and is a beautiful example of doing what you love."

“We are proud to be among the healthcare organizations participating in The DAISY Award program and especially honored to present Dawn with the award on National Nurses Day,” said Shane Hunt, Ascension St. Joseph Hospital Administrator. “At Ascension St. Joseph, we believe nurses are heroes every day, and the work they do has meaning and value in all our lives. A big thank you and congratulations to Dawn on receiving this award. She is an excellent representative of Ascension St Joseph and the profession of nursing.”
