Ascension St. Joseph Recognizes Extraordinary Nurse with DAISY Award

TAWAS CITY, MI – A nurse at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital was recently honored with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses®. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation's mission to recognize the extraordinary, compassionate nursing care they provide patients and families every day.

Becky Morand, RN, works in the Case Management at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital. She was nominated by coworker Rachel Holmstrom, RN, and recognized for helping a patient being discharged obtain supplies for continuing their care at home and with transportation needs. It was acknowledged in the nomination that Morand is exceptional at knowing how to accommodate patients and their individual needs and is a tremendous asset to the Ascension family.

“We are proud to be among the healthcare organizations participating in The DAISY Award program,” said Shane Hunt, Ascension St. Joseph Hospital Administrator. “At Ascension St Joseph, we believe nurses are heroes every day, and the work they do has meaning and value in all our lives. A big thank you and congratulations to Becky on receiving this award. She is an excellent representative of Ascension St Joseph and the profession of nursing.”

Nurses may be nominated by patients, families and colleagues. The award recipient is chosen by a committee at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital. DAISY Awards are presented throughout the year at celebrations attended by the honoree’s colleagues, patients and visitors.
