Diabetes Education Program Coming Soon to Deckerville
Marlette Regional Hospital and Deckerville Community Hospital, as affiliates of United Healthcare Partners, are pleased to offer diabetes self-management services in two convenient locations, Marlette and Deckerville.
State-certified educator, Melanie Campbell, RN, CDE shares, “I help patients make sense of diabetes care, understand blood glucose patterns, plan meals, and develop customized plans that will help patients manage their condition.”
The United Healthcare Partners diabetes program is state- and nationally-certified and provides individualized consultations, diabetes self-management training, and continuing education refresher courses. The program is staffed with a certified educator/registered nurse and registered dietitian.
Upcoming class dates are May 13th and May 15th in Marlette and June 17th and June 24th in Deckerville. Class topics include understanding the disease process, blood glucose testing and pattern evaluation, nutritional management, utilizing physical activity, preventing acute and chronic complications, and setting goals and making changes.
Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance companies cover the cost associated with participation in the diabetes self-management training program. Co-pays and deductibles may apply. Patients should contact their insurance company to ensure coverage.
