First 2021 baby born at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital
TAWAS CITY, MI - Ascension St. Joseph welcomed it’s first baby of 2021. While not officially the first in Michigan, Iosco County resident Kaitlin Challenger, welcomed a son, Waylon Conor Irwin on January 5, 2021. With dad Justin Irwin present, baby Waylon was born at 5:31 a.m., under the care of delivering physician Dr. Christopher Oravitz. Waylon weighed 8 pounds, 14 ounces and measured 21 inches long. Big sister, 8-year-old Nevaeh, and 2-year-old brother Wesley, also welcomed Waylon to the family. Everyone is doing very well.
With Waylon being the firstborn in the county in 2021, he and his family have been gifted with an array of goodies to celebrate the occasion. This comes courtesy of the local businesses which participated in the annual Iosco County News-Herald and Oscoda Press First Baby Contest.
