Hills & Dales General Hospital is pleased to welcome Dr. Gerald Schell, Neurosurgeon and Pain Management Physician

September 11, 2018, Hills & Dales General Hospital is pleased to welcome Gerald Schell, MD, to our Speciality Physician Staff. Dr. Schell is a neurosurgeon and pain management physician who has been practicing in Saginaw and the surrounding areas since 1989.

Dr. Schell is board-certified and will be doing pain management at Hills & Dales which will include consultations, cervical injections, lumbar injections, sacroiliac injections, and spinal cord stimulation. He & his team will also be doing neurosurgical consults. Additionally, he will perform minimally invasive spinal surgeries at Hills & Dales that include cervical fusion, lumbar fusion, lumbar decompression, sacroiliac fusion for chronic and acute back and neck pain. And he will provide treatment for carpal tunnel and ulnar neuropathy.

Dr. Schell earned his medical degree at Michigan State University's College of Human Medicine in East Lansing, and completed his neurosurgical rotation at The University Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y. He has also completed special rotations at Washington University in Saint Louis and Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y. He is member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and he was the surgeon to perform the first artificial lumbar disc surgery in the state of Michigan. He is also involved in the experimental development of single-level and two-level artificial discs for cervical disc problems.
