MRH Foundation Celebrates New Record-Setting Golf Fundraiser

COVID-19 has disrupted life as we know it and many area events have been cancelled for 2020 due to restrictions with indoor public gatherings. Thankfully golf has been a permitted outdoor event, and Marlette Regional Hospital has been working on the front-lines through the pandemic to know there’s a way to safely conduct business while maintaining public health.

Armed with facemasks, hand sanitizer, contact-free bucket raffles, plated dinners, social distancing, and golf cart dividers available upon request, the MRH Foundation’s Business Relations Committee hosted a new record-setting Driving for Health Golf Scramble fundraising event on Thursday, September 10 at the Lapeer Country Club. This year’s event gained the support of 74 sponsors, 28 in-kind donors, and a full course of golfers, all helping to raise a new event record of $39,350 in net income!

Though things looked different this year, various contests, games, and raffles were still offered and division winners were awarded. As scorecards were tallied, the following teams were awarded Yeti mug and golf certificate prize packages:

  • Covenant HealthCare took first place for the men’s division with a score of 57. Golf Chairman Scott Keys awarded their team members Dave Nall, Kevin Birchmeier, Adam Tompa, and Frank Fear.
  • Covenant HealthCare took first place for the women’s division with a score of 69. Golf Chairman Scott Keys awarded team members Lynn Ferguson, Robyne Gregory, Angie McConnachie, and Kim Gentner.
  • Sandusky Auto Sales took first place for the mixed division with a score of 64. Golf Chairman Scott Keys awarded team members Ken Stevens, Holly Stevens, Shannon Swanson, and Rich Degelbeck, Jr.

The Marlette Regional Hospital Foundation expresses sincere thanks to all of the golfers, sponsors, in-kind donors, and our volunteers who supported and made this year’s event a phenomenal success. Having set no fundraising expectations this year, the Foundation couldn’t be more grateful for the support we received. Thank you!
