McKenzie Health System Hosts Wayne State Students
McKenzie
Health System staff recently hosted medical students from Wayne State
University School of Medicine’s Rural Medicine Interest Group. The visit took
place in coordination with Michigan’s Southeast Regional AHEC and the Michigan
Center for Rural Health.
Students
spent the day with President and CEO, Dr. Steve Barnett, and physicians James
Sams, MD; Mark English, MD; and Mark Hamed, MD, MBA, MPH, Medical Director,
Department of Emergency Medicine. Presentations from McKenzie’s staff focused
on the execution and importance of emergency medicine and primary care in rural
settings, the healthcare landscape following the passage of the Affordable Care
Act, and what it is like to live and serve in a place like Sandusky, Michigan.
