Lung Cancer Screening
The 5-year survival rate for lung cancer drops in advanced stages of the disease. Too many people at risk wait until they experience symptoms, like a chronic cough, before they get a lung screening. By then, the cancer may be more difficult to treat and cure. That’s why it’s so important to schedule a lung screening. A low-dose CT scan is the most effective method of detecting cancer in the early stage. Medical experts estimate that early screenings save thousands of lives each year. It could save your life!
Talk with your doctor about having a lung cancer screening if you meet the following requirements:
- Between the ages of 55-77 years
- Has at least a 30+ pack year smoking history
- Is currently smoking or quit within the last 15 years
- Haven’t had a chest CT in the past 12 months
