National Rural Health Day - Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor:

National Rural Health Day, the third Thursday of each November, is truly at the heart of what we do at McKenzie Health System. To us, every day we come together to serve our community is National Rural Health Day in action.

There is a reason that nearly 60 million people – or 1 in 5 Americans – call rural communities’ home: the character, the soul, the people, the space, the opportunity. Rural locations also have challenges when it comes to health care, and we are honored to come together to support our community and meet these head on. We have built a strong team of family healthcare providers, bringing in more specialists so patients reduce their travel time, investing in the latest technology, and maintaining high standards of excellence in emergency care.

We believe in each other and enjoy supporting our patients and team members in their wellness journeys. Every action you take to support your health and wellness – taking more steps each day, drinking an extra glass of water, adding in a new fruit or vegetable to your diet, practicing self-care and scheduling regular check-ups – can make a difference in the overall health of our community.

We are proud to join the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health in “Celebrating the Power of Rural” on National Rural Health Day, November 21.

It’s just not a day – it’s a movement. Thank you to the residents of Sanilac County for your contributions. We are honored to partner with you and remain dedicated to providing the best in compassionate care. On behalf of our nearly 300 team members, thank you for your support on National Rural Health Day 2019.
